From fox to fox and crow, charismatic foxes often appear in fables, children’s stories and other literature. Although they are usually considered smart and cunning in fairy tales, red foxes are actually more shy and shy — although they are very intelligent and curious.

Red foxes can thrive in urban and natural environments, from cities and farms to forests and grasslands.

WHAT DO RED FOXES LIKE TO EAT?

Red foxes are omnivorous and far from picky eater. They like to eat everything that is available, be it small mammals such as rodents, rabbits and squirrels, birds, amphibians, fish, fruits, berries and eggs. These opportunistic eater even eat their dinner leftovers in the trash.

FACTS ABOUT THE RED FOX

  • Despite their name, red foxes can be gray, brown or black, foxes of the same litter sometimes having different color.
  • Red foxes have such good hearing that they can hear rodents digging underground.
  • Due to a mirror-like membrane, the eyes of red foxes glow green when illuminated by light in the dark. Their eyes are very well adapted to be able to see at night, with twice the intensity of the image that many other animals can see.
